Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launches Living the Vivekananda Way by Ananya & Nikhil
Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday launched the book “Living The Vivekananda Way – Practical Spirituality For Modern India”, co-authored by young writers Dr. Ananya Awasthi and Dr. Nikhil Yadav, at a special ceremony held at Shankarlal Hall, Delhi University (North Campus).
Both authors are associated with Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, and through this book they seek to reinterpret and render the timeless wisdom of Swami Vivekananda in a way that is relevant and accessible for today’s younger generation. Introducing the work, the authors underlined Vivekananda’s major teachings and his emphatic call for action.
Congratulating the writers, Shri Pradhan said the book captures Vivekananda’s enduring vision by presenting the essence of the Vedas and Upanishads in a practical and actionable form. “This book is an inspiration for our Gen Z. The principles of oneness, universal brotherhood, and fearlessness propounded by Vivekananda are as significant today as they were more than a century ago,” he remarked.
Delhi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, the Guest of Honour, also addressed the gathering. He recalled Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s observations on Swami Vivekananda’s abiding faith in youth, stressing that India’s future rests in the hands of a confident and value-driven younger generation.
The event also saw the presence of Shri Kapish Mehra, Managing Director of Rupa Publications, which has published the volume.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shri Pradhan described the book as a “commendable initiative” that will serve as a practical guide for young Indians navigating modern challenges. He further observed, “Our Gen-Z are the biggest safeguards of our democratic ethos. They are a force that will unify and strengthen India, they can never pose a risk to India’s interests. Swamiji stood for oneness, universal brotherhood, unity of all religions, and fearlessness. His philosophy and wisdom exemplifies the eternal nature of our civilisation. I am sure the book will inspire the youth to learn and imbibe the values of Swamiji’s teachings and will be a guiding light for navigating modern challenges.”
The ceremony drew wide participation from dignitaries, academics, and students, underscoring the continued relevance of spirituality in modern education and nation-building. The launch reaffirmed the importance of carrying forward Swami Vivekananda’s message as a guiding light for India’s youth in the 21st century.
